One Room Challenge | Week 5

Friends, I have bad news…  I don’t think my room will be complete for week six of the One Room Challenge.  Oh, there will be a reveal, but a couple things out of my control will be missing.  Here at week five, the fabric for the fabulous triangular ottoman is still on backorder and the replacement Parsons table from West Elm (that was delivered damaged) could be here as late as the end of the month.  There is still a tiny chance both items could arrive on time–I’m saying my prayers–but I’m preparing for the worst case scenario.

What is moving along nicely is the built-in.  Chris put on the primer coat yesterday.  The window seat makes so much sense of the bump-out in the room–and it has a storage bin on the long side.  I can’t wait to pile on the cushions and pillows.IMG_9354

The rug is down–we love it!  Its soft woolly texture is perfect for lounging on.  Woven wooden shades went up easily.

And, the CB2 sofa came yesterday!  Soft, squishy, deep, it is a hit with the kids.  If they will abide by the “no food, no drinks, no greasy fingers, no fun” rule, I think we’re going to be okay with the white rug and sofaIMG_9355

The ceiling is finished.  I think for what I saved in time and effort by not painting, this ceiling option turned out fun and just right.  Decals are from Walls Need Love–I cut down their 1″ black tape option.

While I wait for Chris to finish the built-in painting, I’m trying to figure out the art on the walls.  Before, the playroom had a massive gallery wall–so I’m not short on art.  But I don’t want to use a lot of the same, more juvenile pieces for the space.  I also want a cleaner look.  I am leaning toward a cohesive grid with these frames I found at Pottery Barn (on sale now!).  Time to get the level out!

See you next week for the reveal–I’ll show you what I got!  In the meantime, check out the One Room Challenge featured designers and other participants.  Good, good stuff out there!

  1. Every project you start turns out so amazing, even if you don’t have all the pieces. Best wishes that everything arrives in time, though!

  2. You blow my mind!!! That ceiling and that paint are SOOOOO damn good- love love!

  3. Ooh! Can’t wait!

  4. Regardless of the pieces you’re still waiting for, this room is already AMAZING. The ceiling is so fun!

  5. Oh that ceiling is fantastic and the reveal will be worth the wait. I love the direction the space is going in. As a fellow ORC participant it’s been wonderful to gather some fantastic inspiration. I’d love for you to share your progress at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Our readers would love to see it.
