Melt My Heart

Melted crayons, you know this craft.  But what is newsworthy is that I got crafty–which is rare and can sometimes be disastrous.  I had planned on sticking an organic dried fruit strip in each valentine for my son’s preschool class until I saw what Michelle at Four Men One Lady did for her son’s class: cute little heart-shaped melted crayons.

My three darlings and I sat around the table, chatted, and had a fun time peeling crayons for this project.  We come from a long line of pickers and peelers so it was fun work for us.  (Seriously.  Don’t ask.)  And you just can’t beat the happy kaleidoscope that is the fruit of our labor.

I had already ordered these valentines for his class, which just happened to fit perfectly in the little plastic treat bags sold at Joann’s.  He’s irresistible, I know!

The little crayon hearts fit perfectly on the flip side.  I forgot to pick up snappy patterned tape like Michelle, but I found these leftover garage sale stickers in the kids’ sticker stash that worked just fine.

So much better than candy!  Colorful and engaging.  You can visit Four Men One Lady for instructions and adorable print-out labels.

A long line of pickers! Hah! On a parallel trajectory here! (Perfectly cute valentines, by the way!)

I did these with my twins for Valentine’s day a few years ago — a perfect project for both boys and girls. We glued them to the front of a card, and it was wonderful!

Too cute! We did those for Valentine’s day last year, too–I had a newborn and a stircrazy three year old, and it was a fun afternoon activity to keep him occupied. Just today I was organizing some crayons (i’m not as OCD as that makes me sound) and picked out the broken ones with the idea of doing it again this year!!!

Those are ridiculously cute. If I was a mom in that class, I would despise you for doing something so cute and crafty. My (hypothetical) kid would probably have been sent to class with purchased boxes of candy hearts- if anything. You are an awesome mom.

I remember melting crayons as a kid……but nothing as cute as those!

Those crayon hearts are so cute! We have the twins this weekend and will be decorating Valentine boxes for their class. Don’t be surprised if I call for ideas! And tell that little guy he sure is a handsome Valentine. Be mine!
