Cottage Bedroom Redo | The Reveal

in house

If this room weren’t so sweet, I’d call it Bruiser because it’s all black and blue.  Isn’t that a no-no?  Black and blue?  Anyway, the cottage bedroom is all finished and installed!

The play of patterns and textures on the bed is so cozy to me.  Stripe pillows are from Pottery Barn Outlet, new bolster pillow cover is custom, sheets are from Target mixed with our existing white, and the quilt with the tan quilting is from Home Goods.

I am soooooo (my joy warrants all those Os) happy with this wall now:

My friend Cynthia cut mats for my art to fit the Pottery Barn Outlet frames.  Simple, calm, balanced–I love it.  And I think that’s the point here, right?  If Mama ain’t happy…  And doesn’t the slipcover look great?  I used one of our existing IKEA chairs here.

And the black West Elm rug balances the TV (horrific behemoth of entertainment) to my satisfaction…finally!  And, I ended up not replacing the shades on the lamp like originally planned.  Instead I picked up some trim at Joann’s and hot glued my heart out.  I think it looks kind of jaunty.

www.tphblog.com The cobalt blue bed, Patriot Blue by Benjamin Moore to be exact, makes me happy and scoff that there was ever a consideration for boring black.  Thank you again, Darlene, for encouraging me to go bold.  Thank you to the workrooms who churned out the bedskirt, slipcover, and pillow cover in such short notice.  And, thank you to Cynthia for helping me install this room.  She singlehandedly figured out the persnickety bedframe when we were about ready to school it with a mallet and a good dose of grungry frustrations (grumpy + hungry).

If you don’t find a source here, please take a look at this post.  You can also see more before photos here.  Ticking stripe on bedskirt and floral fabrics are from Lewis & Sheron.

And, finally, I have an extra 6×6″ blue ribbon watercolor painting that is a little darker than the ones above–it was the first and I decided I wanted to go lighter on the others.  The composition is the same as the painting in the top left of the grid above.  All that to say, if you want it, I’m giving it away to a good home.  Just send me an email.  Unframed.

That’s it!  Can’t wait to snuggle up in that bed with my honeys.

Yes, I’m voting for the quartet of paintings which in case you tire of them, I’ll find them a happy home.

LOVE! The painted bed, the trimmed up shades, the fabrics, the rug and of course your framed paintings. This is a very welcoming and homey BR in a rental no less! Great job! I just added some blue to my living room and would love to give your extra painting a new home…!

Angela!!!!!!! It looks A. MAZ. ING.
I love all the little spots to rest your book, and the jaunty lampshades are perfect when chill-axing on the {yay!} cobalt blue bed.
Actually, one of my fave changes is the addition of that bedskirt. It fancies it up in such a simple, classy way! Yet, sort of blends in as just another texture. Those kind of details intrigue me. It is like the canvas, that allows the blues and patterns to pop out and play!
2 more things:
1. I would NEVER turn down a painting from you, but truth be told, I am thinking more along the lines of a huge “Ribbons for Dar” for the center of my living room. I lie not.
2. We say “crungry” at our house. ;)

LOVE IT ALL!

Ha-it could be like a swarm of bees coming at you, offering up something so wonderful as one of your paintings. Hmmm I think you might have to make copies of it and sell them otherwise there might be hair pulling ;) Love the cottage redo great colors and patterns. I’ve got a studio/weekend rental that we are working on and you’re my go to guru for it.

I think black and blue is tres chic. Unexpected. And your “jaunty” shades are so charming, just like the rest of the room. I want to come stay!!
