Christmas has come to the mountains! Or, more specifically, I came to the mountains on a little decorating spree. Dear December guests, I hope you enjoy.

Paint-dipped pinecones, an idea I appropriated from the Houston Highland Village Anthropologie.

You can make your own fur-wrapped wreath–read Nester’s tutorial, a funny read. And, see her line-up of the Internet’s best wreaths–oh, the talented crafters! I wish I were one of them.

A bit of randomness: I hardly ever get manicures because I “work with eager hands.” That business doesn’t last a day with me. But when my girl Rachael and I had an hour to kill in Houston before meeting the men and kids for Indian food–we went for manies. Have you ever had the shellac polish? I feel like I made a deal with the Manicure Devil! It has been almost a week and I have packed suitcases, painted pinecones and stuff, pruned the magnolia, wired up wreaths, and washed dishes…and my Frenchie looks as good as the day I got it. This isn’t healthy, is it? What kind of cancer agents could be in this polish? Like I said, randomness.
The cottage wishes you and yours a very merry Christmas!

This is something extra special little miss Angela. I smiled when you claimed to not be a talented crafter cause I see your craftiness all of the time. You craft a beautiful house, you craft a beautiful blog, and you craft a pretty mean canvas.
Seriously loving all of the fresh greenery around the cottage.
Beautiful display of Christmas! Just perfect!!
This is so beautiful. I mean really. You deserve manies and pedies for this!
Beautiful photos as well. Merry Christmas!
The cottage looks so festive. Good job!
Okay, you know someone is gonna ask you, what color paint did you use to “dip” your pine cones in? Such a pretty color with the bark of the pine cones.
Love your Christmas decorations, so pretty!
Judy
Ha, I should’ve known!
Underseas, Sherwin Williams. Thank you!
GORGEOUS!! I can attest, first hand! I am immediately copying the paint-dipped pinecones, it was so beautiful.
Angela…it’s gorgeous!!!
It looks so festive! And with this morning’s dusting of snow it’s perfect!
I know- they last for a sweet forever! I don’t want to know what it is because it’s probably not good!
Love the Cottage’s Christmas look!
And the shellac – oh boy! I got that for the first time right before Halloween because I was due to have a baby any day and I wanted to have pretty nails (lol!). Anyhow – that stuff is STILL on! And it’s just now started to chip. Too bad my nails have grown out by at least a 1/4″ and it looks ridiculous. But I’m totally impressed with the stuff!
understated, classy Christmas cheer —i very much like what you dun and marvel at your craftiness…if you’re not crafty, then i’m unrecycled cardboard!
I love, love, love the paint-dipped pinecones paired with the magnolia. Nothing beats holiday garland made from those lustrous leaves! Thanks for always inspiring!
Tell us about the hooks you hung the stockings on! What are the ‘boxes’ behind the hooks? Are they painted on the wall or magnetic????
If I had a cottage, I would want it to look just like this at Christmas. Totally adorable.
Love it! And you!
looks gorgeous!
Simply beautiful!!
So beautiful and natural – love it! We’re going to our forest cottage this weekend to decorate and prepare for the holidays and I’m so inspired by you to keep it natural. We certainly have plenty of pinecones and paint around for dipping! Thanks for sharing.

Hey, Angela, so glad I stopped by for a Christmas visit. Wow, it all looks beautiful. Really love the natural greens & understated look. I always dream of decorating like this, but my house just seems to need more. But, I really, really love it all!
The dipped pinecones are really neat!
My ear perked up at the shellac polish. wonder if you can get that at the beauty stores? Do you know of any brands that the public can buy? I need that!
Love that place and now with just the right Christmas touches-it sparkles!
Angela your house is ridiculously FABULOUS!!! Seriously amazing! Your holiday decor is equally stunning – so impressed girl! xo
I love what you’ve done with your stockings! We don’t have a mantle to hang ours on so they just hang on the wall but yours is much cuter than mine! Your home is beautiful!
What a cool house! I LOVE your crusty old mirror. I clicked your house tour link because your magnolia swag caught my eye – I have one this year, too
Your pictures and home are gorgeous!!!

Kim
